Stash Live, like all other remote destinations, requires archive limits. These limits tell our Stash server how many backups to keep for each backup type.
To get to the Stash Live archive limits, please go to the Solid Backups -> Stash Live page. Once there, at the top right, please click the "Live Settings" link:
Once you click that a new window should pop up:
From that pop up window, you'll see the "Snapshot Archive Limits".
With the defaults set to:

And we recommend that you keep them at their defaults. It's possible to increase the values, if you have the available Stash space, but it's not recommended that you decrease them unless someone with Solid Backups support recommends it.
The reason you should not decrease the default values, is because Stash Live needs to create a "Full/Complete" snapshot/backup every day.
For the other archive limits (such as 5 daily, 2 weekly, 1 monthly) it doesn't mean it makes 5 snapshots a day. When Stash Live makes a snapshot it gives "tags" or "labels" to each snapshot. The first snapshot of the day will be given a daily tag, the first snapshot of the week will be given a weekly tag, the first snapshot of the month will be given a monthly tag. So if you have a daily archive limit for 5 daily then it will keep only the last 5 snapshots that have a daily tag (so the last 5 days of snapshots before getting rid of the oldest as long as it isn't being held onto for another tag such as the weekly). Snapshots can have more than one tag if it happens to end up that way. So archive limits 5 daily, 2 weekly, and 1 monthly can end up having 8 snapshots at the most being kept at once but may end up being as little as 5 snapshots depending on tag overlaps.
How the archive limits relate to the size of the site and the available Stash space:
In the picture above, you'll see that the size of the site's database is about 19 MB (18.94 MB to be exact) and the size of the site's files is about 120 MB (119.89 MB to be exact). For the time being, let's ignore the size of the database, because after any compression, the size of the database will not be significant at this point. But at the same time, let's also ignore any compression that will be done on the site's files after the backup/snapshot is completed. And let's just focus on the size of the site's files as that is where most of the site's size (and it's backup) will come from.
So, if the size of the site's files is about 120 MB, by default, you will need at least 360 MB of Stash space for this site to utilize Stash Live. That's because Stash Live will eventually store 1 Daily, 1 Weekly, and 1 Monthly backup. 3 x 120 MB = 360 MB.
And the free 1 GB Stash allocation that you get with your Solid Backups (1 site or 10 site subscription) purchase will be enough space for a site that is about 120 MB. But what if the site is larger than that, how much Stash space will you need to use Stash Live? For that, please see the following (if you have multiple sites, just add up the "Files" sizes for all the sites, then use the table below):

Please note, that some of our plugin/theme packages that come with other plugins and themes, also come with additional Stash space. Which means you may already have more than 1 GB of Stash space to start with. As some of our packages come with 5 GB of Stash space and while others come with 10 of Stash space. But if you just purchase the 1 Site (Basic) or 10 Site (Plus) Solid Backups subscription, they only come with 1 GB of free space. The Solid Backups Unlimited Site subscription comes with 5 GB of Stash space. The iThemes Essentials Bundle (that includes Solid Backups) comes with 10 GB of Stash space. The iThemes Plugin Suite (that includes Solid Backups) comes with 10 GB of Stash space. The iThemes WordPress Web Designer's Toolkit (that includes Solid Backups) comes with 50 GB of Stash space.
