Is reCAPTCHA Supported?

Yes, it is! reCAPTCHA can be enabled on the registration form by logging into your WordPress Dashboard> Restrict > Settings > Misc.

Check on "Enable reCAPTCHA", decide which version you want to use: reCAPTCHA v2 or reCAPTCHA v3, and select the appropriate option in the dropdown.

Note: reCAPTCHA v3 is only available in Restrict Content Pro version 3.3 or higher.

Version 2 will add a reCAPTCHA checkbox to the registration form like this:

Version 3 does not add a checkbox. It is invisible except for this notice, which will appear in the bottom right of the page:

Once you've chosen version 2 or version 3, you will need to enter your "Site Key" and "Secret Key". These are obtained from the reCAPTCHA website.

Click "Admin console" in the top right to log in to the reCAPTCHA console area. Then click the "+" icon in the top right to create a new CAPTCHA.

You will be presented with a page that looks like this:

Fill out the form as follows:

  • Label: This can be set to anything you want. It's your private name for this set of reCAPTCHA credentials. It will help you identify this configuration inside your reCAPTCHA admin console. An example might be: "RCP - {your site name}"
  • reCAPTCHA type: Select the version number you chose in the RCP settings. If you select version 2, then also select the "I'm not a robot" Checkbox.
  • Domains: Enter the domain of the site Restrict Content Pro is installed on -- without https://. For example: yoursite.com
  • Owners: Should be pre-filled with your email address. You may enter additional email addresses if necessary.
  • Accept the reCAPTCHA terms of service.

Submit the form and then you will be able to copy your site and secret keys. Paste these into the Restrict Content Pro settings.
