With Solid Backups, you are able to restore your backup from a remote destination. Remote destinations such as Amazon S3 and Stash introduced this capability. Let’s take a look at how to restore your backup from one of these destinations. We’re going to be using Dropbox.
In order to use the Dropbox destination, you will need to license Solid Backups.
Once you have set up the Dropbox destination you will find all of the backups that were sent to that destination:
Once you have determined which backup you want to restore, hover your cursor over the three diagonal dots and click them. Two options should appear (“Copy to Local” and “Download Backups”). Select the “Copy to Local” option.
Once you’ve selected the “Copy to Local” option, it should copy the backup to your site. Please note, depending on the size of the backup, it may take awhile for it to complete. But once it completes, you should get a message that says “The remote file has been scheduled to be copied down to your local backups. Check your logs for more details.”
Then navigate to the Restore Backup page found under BackupBuddy -> Backups -> Restore Backups:
You will be restoring the entire backup, so you’ll click the “Restore” button on the far right side of the backup listing. We will select “Entire Backup”.
Depending on how long ago the backup was made, you may need to sign back into your site.
Your site is now restored and you’re ready to go! Pretty easy, huh?
