What Rules are Enforced by the .htaccess File in Solid Security Pro?

On 02/26/2020, WPEngine announced that they would be deprecating the .htaccess file in PHP 7.4 and above.

The Solid Security Bans and Site Lockouts will still be executed without the .htaccess file, but the settings below rely on the .htaccess file to be enforced:

  • Security ⇒ Settings ⇒ Features ⇒ Firewall ⇒ Ban Users ⇒ Default Ban List
  • Security ⇒ Settings ⇒ Advanced ⇒ System Tweaks ⇒ Protect System Files
  • Security ⇒ Settings ⇒ Advanced ⇒ System Tweaks ⇒ Disable Directory Browsing
  • Security ⇒ Settings ⇒ Advanced ⇒ System Tweaks ⇒ Disable PHP in Uploads
  • Security ⇒ Settings ⇒ Advanced ⇒ System Tweaks ⇒ Disable PHP in Plugins
  • Security ⇒ Settings ⇒ Advanced ⇒ System Tweaks ⇒ Disable PHP in Themes
  • Security ⇒ Settings ⇒ Advanced ⇒ WordPress Tweaks ⇒ XML-RPC (Disable XML-RPC)
